Unwelcome Visitors

Here is where my thoughts lie, here is where they go,

They rest awhile, they amble by sometimes very slow,

At times they are unwelcome, but they do not take the hint,

They hang around causing chaos until they’ve done their stint,

Until they’ve left me feeling anxious, upset and all at sea,

Until I’m left clearing a mind fog desperate to return to me.

And all at once, I realise that thoughts are all they are,

Thoughts cannot be seen, cannot be gathered in a jar.

They have no staying power unless I choose to let them win,

So I’m dismissing the unwelcome ones, only the kind thoughts can come in.
